Guerra took four years to finish this work. And you can see that in so many little moments on the painting’s surface. It is a register of his artistic process, of how he conceived of visualizing his mode of expression at the early stages of his painting career. Words are scrawled and covered by sweeps of bright paint; ink-jet printed images are layered over one another and then drawn through. There is a frenetic energy to the work, but one that can only be fully sensed when viewed up close, when one takes the time to let the painting consume them.
